This question has been asked at least once before and will likely be asked in the future: "Kiruka, why do you use characters from other serieses rather than making up all of the characters?"
What I planned to do with this comic was pick out various trap characters that I like from different serieses, and plop them all into one modern-day alternate universe together. Basically set it up so that they could be major characters rather than just flat (no pun intended) side characters (which is what a good majority of trap characters end up being), as well as let them interact with each other (which in itself is rare, because most anime/manga with a trap character just has the one).
Obviously, with the nature of an alternate universe, their backstories needed to be altered to fit the Maid of Win universe, but I made as few changes as possible so as to keep the characters as close to their original selves as possible (with the obvious exception of fleshing out their personalities more, and giving backstories to characters who really didn't have one to begin with). By using an alternate universe, not changing the original characters too much, and having comedy be the main focus, I avoid most of the problems associated with cross-overs. Consider Maid of Win to be a sort of doujinshi if you like. I can promise, though, that all of the non-trap characters will be original...in other words, any trap otaku out there will be able to spot the trap if they know their media well enough.
tl;dr: I'm doing this for fun, not profit, so I'm gonna have fun with it. Besides, think of all the doujinshi artists in Japan who draw stuff with copyrighted characters, SELL IT, and get away with it.
